Collection: Flying Geese (and variations)

Flying geese are isoceles triangles, typically of a color, with a lighter colored background.  Usually arranged in columns, the triangles represent geese in flight, and the quilts consisted of rows of Flying Geese and plain background fabric.

Flying geese are also seen in pyramids (Sugarloaf), trapezoids (Ocean's Wave), and baskets

The legend surrounding this pattern states that during the Civil War, Flying Geese quilts were aids in assisting enslaved people make their way north.
