DIY Quilt Komebukuro Kit
Now you can sew your own Quilt Komebukuro (Japanese rice pouches)!
This DIY kit includes everything you need: 5 pre-cut quilt panels for the outer, 5 pre-cut canvas panels for the lining, vintage feedsack for the channels, macrame cording, and both written and video instructions. All you need is your home sewing machine, general purpose thread, pins (or clips), and your scissors.
The quilt panels are a mix of both quilt scraps pieced together, or a piece of a single quilt. The three photos with the solid color quilt piece, cording and channel fabric indicate the bottom quilt panels.

Purpose in Repurposing
Everything I make at m.a.b.e.l takes time. I find and like to work with pre-1950s quilts because of their natural fibers and their designs that are so old they’re modern again. I work slowly to appreciate all the handwork and decisions that once created them. Every quilt is beautifully unique, and I love making it shine.
