Origami Tote (Lavender Feedsack 9 Patch-natural lining)

Sale price$120.00

The origami bag is a fixture in Japan, often used to tote a bento box or other sundries. Typically unlined and tied at the top, they're a clever use of fabric rectangles.

My Origami Totes are constructed from vintage quilt tops—carefully preserved pieces of textile history. Because these tops were never quilted, the fabrics take center stage, allowing their colors and patterns to shine in full detail. Each tote is fully lined for added structure and durability.

These totes are WIDE (about 20" from side to side) and 12" (ish) tall at the center dip. There are no pockets. The handles are stitched together (no need for constant re-tying) and wrapped in a sturdy, easy-to-grab canvas tube.

Origami Totes are practical, easily slung over the shoulder, and perfect for projects, travel, or your commute.

Size: Approx. 20" wide and 12" tall (at the dip).

Our Process

Purpose in Repurposing

Everything I make at m.a.b.e.l takes time. I find and like to work with pre-1950s quilts because of their natural fibers and their designs that are so old they’re modern again. I work slowly to appreciate all the handwork and decisions that once created them. Every quilt is beautifully unique, and I love making it shine.

Out with the old...

At m.a.b.e.l, everything old can be new again. Send me your used m.a.b.e.l coat or popover (it’ll be repurposed once again!) and I'll give you a discount on your next one!
