The star itself is a traditional Texas Lone Star, each diamond pieced by hand until the points explode across a soft yellow background. This is like the motherlode of quilting--getting all those points to line up is half the challenge and all the payoff — and now it's doing the very unglamorous work of hauling your stuff around town.

Purpose in Repurposing
Everything I make at m.a.b.e.l takes time. I find and like to work with pre-1950s quilts because of their natural fibers and their designs that are so old they’re modern again. I work slowly to appreciate all the handwork and decisions that once created them. Every quilt is beautifully unique, and I love making it shine.
